Firefighters work to extinguish the flames of a structure fire on Bragg Street Sunday. The fire began shortly after noon, and emergency personnel were on the scene until after 8 p.m. A total of three buildings were reduced to rubble as a result of the blaze.

Happy belated birthday Nelli!!!

After watching Nelli grow up on Instagram for the past two years, I finally got to meet her in February when I went to visit her and her family in North Carolina. She and her mama, Kato, are purebred adventurers and spent several days showing me and Riley some of their favorite hikes and dog parks in the Blue Ridge Mountains, including Linville Falls and Rough Ridge.

Nelli is go!go!go! all the time, even to the point of accidentally hurting herself in her enthusiasm (her mama always pampers her when this happens). Kato does an amazing job directing that endless energy into outdoor activities and training. And she always dresses her in the cutest bandanas, usually with matching leash and collar (she’s the most fashionable pup I know).

I can’t wait to make it back to North Carolina some time and spend more time with this awesome duo! Maybe next time we’ll even get a good picture of Riley and Nelli together.
